The screenplay, penned by Howard Klausner and Jonas McCord, draws from Paul Kengor’s 2006 book, The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism.
Dennis Quaid stars as Ronald Reagan, who was the 40th US president, serving from 1981 to 1989. Before his presidency, he was an actor and the governor of California from 1967 to 1975. His administration was marked by significant economic reforms, known as “Reaganomics,” a strong anti-communist stance, and efforts to end the Cold War.
Reagan has a strong supporting cast that includes Jon Voight playing Soviet spy Viktor Novikov, who is also the film’s narrator. Penelope Ann Miller, Robert Davi, Kevin Dillon, C. Thomas Howell and Lesley-Anne Down also star in the movie.
Principal photography for Reagan commenced in September 2020, with scenes filmed in various locations, including Guthrie, Oklahoma.
