When the news broke that 12 boys and their coach were successfully rescued from a flooded cave in northern Thailand it was like a miracle had occurred.
Now U.S. director Ron Howard has brought those dramatic events from 2018 to life with his latest film Thirteen Lives which stars Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell and Joel Edgerton as three of the rescuers.

The boys — aged from 11 to 16 and their coach, 25 — were trapped in the cave for 18 days in total.
Thousands of people, both local and foreign, were involved in what was thought by many as a near-impossible bid to save the boys and their coach.
Among the rescuers were more than 100 divers, among them Saman Kunan, a 38-year-old former Thai Navy SEAL who died of asphyxiation in the flooded cave. Another rescue diver Beirut Pakbara died in December 2019 due to a blood infection he contracted during the rescue operation.
Thirteen Lives has a limited theatrical release beginning July 29 before being available via Prime Video on Aug. 5.
