Some may cringe upon hearing that cinematic master of disaster Roland Emmerich has another film coming out about the near destruction of the world.
Included in Emmerich’s CV are both Independence Day films, the climate change disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow and the rewatchable 2012 which we here at Zip consider the daddy of all over the top disaster flicks.
If the above trailer is anything to go by, his next venture into this genre Moonfall looks pretty watchable, especially seeing it includes not just some way over the top special effects and the very talented John Bradley from Game of Thrones fame.
To watch the trailer just click the play button at the left of the feature image above.
Bradley plays a conspiracy theorist who teams up with NASA executive and former astronaut played by Halle Berry and another astronaut type played by Patrick Wilson.
“These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is,” says a blurb promoting the movie.
The impending disaster part of the film is a “mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it,” the blurb adds.
The $140 million-budgeted Moonfall lands in cinemas early February, and we’ll be waiting for the reviews to see howEmmerich’s latest big-on-effects production fares with the public.
