The animated short film 850 Meters is a pleasure to watch from beginning to end. It’s quirky, funny, clever, and visually captivating. It’s a bit like Monty Python for kids. It’s a near-perfect little film.

It’s set in your typically storybook medieval fantasy world — knights, damsels in distress and big green dragons.
That’s all we will say so as not to spoil it for you, apart from saying it’s only at the 14-minute film’s final moment does the film’s title 850 Meters make sense.
It was produced by a very small team led by Joeri Christiaen in an “after-hours” capacity between 2009 and 2013. The film was selected in over 30 festivals and was aired in prime time on Canal+ (France), VRT-Ketnet, RTBF-Ouftivi and BeTV (Belgium).
850 Meters was produced by Belgian production house/creative studio Thuristar, in coproduction with Lunanime.
Thuristar went on to coproduce a TV spinoff of 850 Meters called My Knight and Me which was picked up by the Cartoon Network.
