At its heart is Jim Caviezel playing outspoken American Christian journalist Doug Rawlins who is kidnapped in Egypt, then tortured in Lebanon before being put on a show trial in Iran.

Ignored by the U.S. government, his wife Liz, played by Claudia Karvan, goes to the Middle East to rescue him.

Infidel was directed and produced by Iranian-American filmmaker Cyrus Nowrasteh who earlier made the award-winning 2009 film The Stoning of Soraya M.

Dinesh D’Souza and his wife Debbie are the film’s executive producers.

“Hollywood would never make this movie because it reflects patriotic and Christian values,” Dinesh D’Souza tweeted Sept. 4.
