Greenland Trailer: Gerard Butler’s Next Disaster Movie

Disaster films — like zombie movies — are now a staple for Hollywood and the upcoming Greenland is the latest offering. Going by the above trailer — press the play button on the left to watch — it’s visually impressive.

Greenland stars Gerard Butler as a family man looking after his loved ones as large comet fragments fall from the sky, threatening life on Earth.

The only hope Butler’s character thinks he has in saving his family is getting them to underground bunkers in Greenland north-east of Canada.

Let’s just hope the storyline has enough to deliver an emotional wallop akin to 2012’s The Impossible, which ZIP ranks as one of the finest disaster movies ever made.

Greenland is directed by Ric Roman Waugh, who replaced Neill Blomkamp reportedly due to scheduling conflicts. Butler — not long from being in another disaster film; 2017’s Geostorm — replaced Chris Evans for similar reasons.

Greenland is expected to be in cinemas Aug. 14, 2020.
