As far as trailers go, the one above for the indie sci-fi film Archive does a lot right. It shows off some of the film’s impressive visuals, while offering insights into the film’s basic premise without overdoing it, leaving you with the wish to see the full thing when it comes out.
What we know of Archive so far is that it’s set in the year is 2038 and its main character George Almore — acted by Theo James — is out to create a true human-equivalent AI.
“His latest prototype is almost ready. This sensitive phase is also the riskiest,” says a promotional blurb for Archive. “Especially as he has a goal that must be hidden at all costs: being reunited with his dead wife,” it said.
Will it just be another movie about a mad scientist? You’ll have to wait to check it out from July 10 via on demand digital platforms in the U.S.
Archive is written and directed by Gavin Rothery who was also the concept artist and the VFX supervisor for 2009’s Moon directed by Duncan Jones.
