Uncle Tom examines what it means to be black in America through the eyes of black conservative thinkers.
Given how identity politics plagues the US, the film is both provocative and brave.
Among those black conservatives interviewed in Uncle Tom are Col. Allen B. West, Brandon Tatum, Candace Owens, Carol Swain and Larry Elder who is also the film’s executive producer.
“It’s not an angry film, it’s not a film that says how dare you call us these nasty names,” Elder says in the interview below with Jan Jekielek from American Thought Leaders.
Elder asks why can’t the black community have an intelligent discussion about important issues such as abortion or children without fathers.
“The number one problem in the black community is not racism, it’s not bad cops, although we both know both exist, the number one problem is the large number of blacks raised without a father,” Elder says.
Some 75 percent of black children are now born out of wedlock, putting them at greater risk of having a tough and unproductive life. But Elder says that when black American conservatives raise this issue they’re denounced as Uncle Toms.
The black left, he says, doesn’t even believe there is such is thing as thoughtful disagreement.
