The Present is a short-animated film made in 2014 by German filmmaker Jacob Frey.

Frey said The Present was based on a comic strip by a Brazilian comic artist Fabio Coala.
Frey cowrote the story with Markus Kranzler. Both he and Kranzler would go on to get work in the U.S. Frey would work on the animated movies Zootopia and Moana.
The Present was Frey’s thesis film that he made for the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
The film was shown in over 260 film festivals and won more than 70 awards worldwide.
