Anthony Mackie: Superheroes Have Killed Off Movie Stars

American actor Anthony Mackie describes why Hollywood has become what it is in the above video.

“Movies today are made for 16-year-olds and China. And that’s it,” Mackie said while on stage at the MCM London Comic Con in October 2017.

Taking cue from his own experience as the Falcon in the Marvel franchise, Mackie said the evolution of superheroes in movies has killed off the idea of big-name movie stars.

“When you went to the movies you went to go see the Stallone movie, you went to go see the Schwarzenegger movie. Now you go see X-Men,” he said.

“You think of your favorite films growing up and those films wouldn’t be made today,” he said.

People have stopped going to the movies because movies today suck, he said.
