Rodrigo García directs Ewan McGregor – who plays both Yeshua (the Hebrew pronunciation of Jesus) and the Devil – in Last Days in the Desert.
The film is set during part of Yeshua’s fasting and praying in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights.
During this time he is tempted and taunted by the Devil.
Yeshua also befriends a poor family of three who are amidst their own crisis which draws him in.

Cinematography for the film is by three time Oscar winner, Emmanuel Lubezki who was also behind the camera for The Revenant. The film also stars Tye Sheridan, Ciarán Hinds and Ayelet Zurer.
Last Days in the Desert plays in theaters from May 13.
