Scottish band, Simple Minds had a number of big hits during the 1980s. One of them was Don’t You (Forget About Me) which played at the beginning and end credits of the iconic 1985 movie The Breakfast Club.
Three others declined to record the song for the film’s soundtrack – among them Bryan Ferry and Billy Idol – before Simple Minds agreed to do so. They made a recording within three hours.
The song made it to number one on the US and Canadian charts.
