Unbroken: Angelina Jolie Tells the Story of Louie Zamperini

U.S. Olympian and war hero Louie Zamperini led an amazing and inspiring life. As some of those interviewed in the above featurette about the film Unbroken say, Louie lived more than one life.

After turning from petty juvenile crime, Louie became an athlete who went on to race in the 1936 Olympics. During the war in the Pacific, he survived being adrift at sea for 47 days. This was followed by enduring years of deprivation in a Japanese POW camp.

While a two hour film can only say so much about someone’s life, director Angelina Jolie and actor Jack O’Connell do a superb job in creating the essence of the popular book that the film is based on.

According to the above featurette, Universal Pictures have been wanting to do a film on Louis’ story since 1956.
